Marie-Thérèse de Martainville, born de Gaude, was the daughter of Antoine-Léonor-Jean-François de Gaude, Comte de Martainville, and Marie-Anne de Malortie, Comtesse de Hombourg. In 1749, she married Philippe-Charles Volgt d’Hunolstein, Comte d’Hunolstein and chamberlain to Duc Léopold de Lorraine. She brought the Comté de Hombourg as a dowry to her husband’s family. Two sons were born from this marriage, Philippe-Antoine and François-Léonor, whose pastel portraits are also in this sale.
