Offered in this lot is a pair of dual-signed Nike Air Max Uptempo 3/4 Player Exclusives signed by Yao Ming. Produced for Fall 2003, the sneakers are constructed in a White/Midnight Navy/Argmet colorway and feature "Yao 11" embroidered in white on the navy suede ankle strap, identifying these as a PE produced specifically for Ming. Both shoes are signed in black marker on the lateral panel. The signatures are authenticated by Beckett and accompanied by a letter from James Spence Authentication. MEARS has examined the sneakers and associates them with Yao Ming's time with the Houston Rockets

Yao Ming's NBA career was defined by his towering presence both on and off the court. Standing at 7 feet 6 inches, Yao quickly became a dominant force for the Houston Rockets after being drafted as the first overall pick in 2002. 


Known for his exceptional basketball IQ, agile footwork, and deft shooting touch, Yao was a formidable center who earned multiple All-Star selections and garnered widespread respect for his sportsmanship and leadership. Despite battling injuries that shortened his career, Yao left an indelible mark on the NBA, bridging cultures and expanding the league's global appeal, particularly in China where he remains an enduring basketball icon.


Ming ended his career with averages of 19 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, and 1.6 assists per game.


He is an 8-time NBA All-Star, 3x Olympian, 5x All-NBA Selection and an All-Rookie First Team NBA selection. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2016.
