These sneakers were worn by Stephen Curry during Games 3 and 4 of the 2016 NBA Finals, the culmination of one of the most celebrated seasons in NBA history. That year, the Golden State Warriors set the all-time regular season record with 73 wins, surpassing the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' 72-win mark, and Curry was named the NBA's first unanimous MVP in league history. The left shoe is inscribed "NBA REC 73-9" on the toe box, a direct reference to that historic mark.

The 2016 NBA Finals stand as one of the most consequential moments in the history of the sport. The Warriors entered as heavy favorites, and after winning Game 4 108-97, stood three games to one with no team in NBA Finals history having ever overcome such a deficit. What followed was the most dramatic comeback in Finals history. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving each scored 41 points in Game 5, James scored 41 again in Game 6, and in a tense Game 7 at Oracle Arena, James delivered a chase-down block on Andre Iguodala with under two minutes remaining and the score tied, before Irving hit a go-ahead three-pointer over Curry with 53 seconds left to seal a 93-89 Cavaliers victory. Cleveland became the first and only team to overcome a 3-1 series deficit in the NBA Finals, ending a 52-year championship drought in the city.

In Game 3, the Cavaliers delivered a statement victory, routing the Warriors 120-90 at Quicken Loans Arena to get on the board, with Curry recording 19 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals in 31 minutes. Curry wore these sneakers in the second half of Game 3.

Two nights later in Game 4, Curry responded with one of his finest performances of the series, scoring 38 points to give the Warriors a seemingly insurmountable 3-1 lead. That the series would ultimately unfold as it did only deepens the historical resonance of these sneakers, artifacts of a Finals that redefined what was possible in championship basketball.

The sneakers have been photomatched by MeiGray. The sneakers are signed and inscribed by Curry. The sneakers are accompanied by a letter from James Spence regarding the signatures.
