Led by Finals MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics in six games to capture the 1985 NBA championship — the first time in franchise history the Lakers had beaten Boston in the NBA Finals, ending a streak of eight consecutive Finals losses to the Celtics dating back to 1959.
