Intergalactic Buzz Lightyear Ultimate Talking Action Figure, manufactured by Thinkway Toys c.1995. Buzz Lightyear action figure measures 12 inches tall. Wings not expandable. Inscribed "TO THE REAL BUZZ" on the lower chest plate and SIGNED on the left by JOHN LASSETER.

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR SIGNED AND INSCRIBED TO HIS HISTORIC INSPIRATION BY THE DIRECTOR OF TOY STORY, JOHN LASSETER.

One of the most beloved figures from Disney Pixar's breakout hit Toy Story, Buzz Lightyear's character was initially named "Lunar Larry" in early versions of the story as developed by Lasseter. Lasseter drew inspiration from the GI Joe figures popular at the time and designed Lightyear to be a Space Ranger, a protector from Star Command. Ultimately, "Lunar Larry" was scrapped and Lasseter was inspired to name the action hero after the real world lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin after Lasseter decided Buzz had the coolest name of all the astronauts.

The present lot is a touching tribute "To The Real Buzz" from Lightyear's creator, and speaks to one of the facets of popular culture inspired by the real life legend.
