APOLLO 11 WORLD TOUR ALBUM, DIRECTLY FROM THE COLLECTION OF BUZZ ALDRIN.

Apollo 11 made history in July 1969 when Commander Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took humanity’s first steps on the Moon. Upon their safe return in the Pacific Ocean, there were celebrations around the world. Apollo 11 crew Neil Armstrong, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins were welcomed around the world on a good will tour demonstrating that the Moon landing was done for the good of humankind and remains as one of the greatest technical achievements in history.

The present lot, an Apollo 11 Goodwill Tour Album, documents their international travel post-mission as dignitaries meeting with a variety of foreign governments and their people to celebrate the Moon landing.

Also included in this lot are news clippings related to the crew’s national coverage from their tour across the United States, presented in a “Cross Country Hop” album that features extensive news about the astronauts’ travels and the press programming done by their wives Janet Armstrong (married to Neil), Joan Aldrin (married to Buzz), and Patricia Collins (married to Michael). The wives were also key figures in the marathon of press events, meeting dignitaries and representatives around the world.
