Description
A Warwick Dolphin Pro four-string electric bass, serial #G08389, African rosewood body with satin finish played by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic during a Nirvana recording session on 25 November 25 1991 in Hilversum, North Holland, Netherlands, prior to the group’s concert at the famous Paradiso music hall in Amsterdam.
The instrument’s distinctive wood grain has been matched to photographs taken at the recording studio, one of which appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone Argentina #185. Lot includes copy of the magazine.

The recording session was a joint project of Dutch radio stations VPRO and VARA, held at Hilversum Studios. The band played three songs including Leadbelly’s “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” and “Here She Comes Now” by The Velvet Underground, and an untitled song. The instruments for the recording session were backline rental gear, including this Warwick bass.
