Manuscript, written by Bruce Springsteen in pencil on lined notebook paper. features developmental draft of “Backstreets,” with several lines from the finished work, including: “Just another tramp of hearts crying tears of faithlessness…. Stranded in the park and forced to confess.”
Released on Bruce Springsteen's 1975 masterwork, Born to Run, “Backstreets” is evocative of Bob Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street,” particularly in the melody and organ, which bear a strong resemblance to the Dylan song.
