Description

14 x 21 ⅞ in. Original concert poster for Bob Dylan’s 26 February 1966 show on Long Island, NY. This cardboard poster shows Dylan with cigarette placed in the harmonica holder. In very good condition, with some yellowing at edges and slightly bumped corners.

Poster is originally from the collection of Charlie Rothschild, a music manager who met Dylan at Gerde’s Folk City in September 1961. He went on to work for Dylan’s manager Albert Grossman and became a touring manager for Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul and Mary.

During this show, Dylan played sets of both folk music and electric rock ‘n’ roll. The electric set was booed by the hardcore folkies who couldn’t get over that Dylan was rewriting the rules yet again, expanding his sound with electric rock and roll.

His backing group for the electric set featured Robbie Robertson on electric guitar, Rick Danko on bass, Richard Manuel on piano, and Garth Hudson on organ.
