Sotheby’s is pleased to present Prints Part II, our dedicated prints auction held during Prints & Photographs Week. Featuring an extensive survey of printmaking spanning the 19th century to the present day, the sale brings together important modern prints by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse alongside bold postwar and contemporary works by Donald Judd, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, among many others. With estimates ranging from $1,000 to over $100,000, the auction celebrates printmaking as a medium of innovation and accessibility for collectors at every level.
Prints Part II opens for bidding on Thursday, 1 October and lots will close in succession on Friday, 9 October.
The sale will be preceded by Prints & Photographs Part I on 8 October, the third installment of our innovative cross-category live auction. Bringing together exceptional works by leading photographers and printmakers, the sale highlights centuries of artistic achievement across the printed mediums.
Highlights will be on view at the Sotheby's global headquarters in the historic Breuer building on Madison Avenue ahead of the auctions. Alongside Sotheby's Contemporary Curated and Discoveries sales, the pre-sale exhibitions will provide collectors the opportunity to experience these works within one of New York’s most celebrated architectural landmarks.
