The Polychrome returns with its customary breadth, bringing together distinguished private collections from Hong Kong and across Asia, with Ming and Qing porcelain, jades, gold work and more. Foremost among the highlights is a Kangxi hexagonal jardinière, painted in underglaze blue with the Immortals; the strength of the cobalt and the assurance of the brushwork animate a scene of figures and auspicious beasts. A Yongzheng celadon-glazed waterpot is distinguished by its glaze soft and evenly disposed, and its provenance equally notable: exhibited as early as 1954 at the Taiwan Provincial Museum, the forerunner of the Museum of History in Taipei, making it a genuine rarity with a documented history.
