Christie's, New York, 22 November 2011, lot 392.

White, Allom & Co. was founded in London in 1905 by Sir Charles Carrick Allom (1865-1947). It ranks among the most important decorating and furniture-making firms of the early twentieth century, undertaking commissions at both Buckingham Palace and the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

It was also engaged by the American collector Henry E. Huntington (1850-1927) to furnish his residence at San Marino, California, today the Huntington Library. Our table can be seen in the dining room in an archival photograph dated November 1930 (The Huntington Library, San Marino, California, photCL 107).
