Yves Badetz, Marc du Plantier, Paris, 2010, p. 207 for a view of our table in its original setting.
It was in 1945 that Juan March, the eminent banker and prominent Spanish collector, commissioned Marc du Plantier to redecorate part of his Madrid palace. The present coffee table formed part of this interior. Its geometric-patterned top, framed by gilded-iron drapery, directly evokes the Neoclassical vocabulary which the designer reinterpreted in a modern yet elegant aesthetic.
