Linen backed, unframed: 30 x 40 in. (76 x 102 cm)
Exceptionally rare British poster. There are hardly any British posters for any film that survived the WWII years, owing to paper shortages. During this time and just afterwards, all available paper was recycled. To-date this is only the third example of this poster to have surfaced.
This 1946 film was directed by David Lean, and is based on the novel by Charles Dickens. The film stars John Mills, Jean Simmons, Alec Guinness and Valerie Hobson. It won two Oscars: Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.
