Adam and Eve

 

a pair, both oil on panel, in a portable altar

each: 17.8 x 7.2 cm.; 7 x 2⅞ in.

The iconography of these panels bears a relationship to German engravings, such as Hans Sebald Beham’s 1543 engraving of Adam and Eve after his brother, Barthel Beham (1502–1540).1
