Following his standout second year, Clayton Jr. transferred to the Florida Gators where he continued his standout offensive performance, being named to the Second-Team All SEC. In his senior year Clayton Jr. had one of the best individual seasons in Florida basketball history. He led the Gators to a 27-4 record during the regular season and later won the NCAA tournament. Walter Jr. was also recognized with consensus first-team All American honors, first-team all SEC honors, SEC Tournament MVP, SEC Male Athlete of the Year, and NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
