Once Grant’s commissions for printed textiles for Alan Walton Ltd came to an end in the mid-1930s, he nevertheless continued to produce textile designs for the rest of his life. Some were beautifully worked in cross stitch by his mother, Ethel Grant. The purpose of the present finished work is unknown but could well have been a design for a cushion.
