Where acquired.
The present work was probably executed by an artist active in Rome circa 1625-1650, under the influence of the circle of painters and thinkers around the humanist Cassiano del Pozzo. The coloration, subject matter, and handling are reminiscent of a number of these artists, including Nicolas Poussin, Pietro Testa, and Pier Francesco Mola.
