Each year at Watches & Wonders, Cartier presents a historic model reimagined for its Privé collection, dedicated to collectors and connoisseurs alike. In 2023, the Maison unveiled one of its most anticipated revivals: the Cartier Tank Normale, the original Tank.
First introduced in 1917 and inspired by the Renault FT-17 tanks of World War I, the Tank’s design is defined by its clean geometry and architectural lines. In 2023, Cartier reintroduced the model in a series of six limited-edition variants in yellow gold and platinum.
This modern reinterpretation faithfully preserves the defining features of the original: balanced proportions, a beveled sapphire crystal, and an elegant Roman numeral dial complete with an inner minute track. A subtle tribute to the debut year can be found in the “VII” numeral, which discreetly incorporates the date 1917. The satin-brushed case and brancards are beautifully contrasted by polished chamfers, highlighting the watch’s refined construction.
Produced in a limited edition of only 200 pieces, this example is offered in overall very good condition and is accompanied by its original accessories.
