Introduced at the 2000 Baselworld fair, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 1165XX series marked a major milestone in the evolution of the modern Daytona, debuting the manufacture’s first fully in-house self-winding chronograph movement, the caliber 4130. Incorporating a range of innovative and patented technical solutions, the caliber established a new benchmark for automatic chronographs through its exceptional robustness, reliability, efficiency, and long-term serviceability, cementing the movement as one of the finest serially produced chronograph calibers of the modern era.

Dating from approximately 2008, the present example is distinguished by its exceptionally rare and visually striking mother-of-pearl dial featuring meteorite subsidiary registers and diamond hour markers. Owing to the naturally occurring crystalline structure of the meteorite and the organic formation of the mother-of-pearl, no two dials are ever identical, giving each watch an entirely unique appearance. Rarely encountered on the market, especially in well-preserved condition, this configuration represents one of the most collectible and extravagant interpretations of the white gold Daytona produced during the early years of the six-digit reference generation.
