The reference 2431 is distinguished by its impressive case with flame lugs produced by Vichet and was produced between 1948 and 1956. A perfect expression of Patek Philippe’s avant garde approach in the early 1950s, the reference stands out with its stepped, flame shaped lugs. Departing from the more classical round and rectangular forms of the period, it presents a bold and highly distinctive design.
This example is part of the second series, that is characterized by the Calibre 12-400. Less than 25 examples of the 2431J have appeared on the market and less than a handful belonged to the second series, further increasing the desirability of this lot.
