Introduced in 1969, the Rolex Daytona reference 6265 retained the classic metal tachymeter bezel first seen on earlier references such as the 6239, while benefiting from significant technical upgrades. These included a waterproof Oyster case, screw-down pushers, and a triplock crown, replacing the pump pushers of previous models.
At its heart lies the renowned calibre Valjoux 727, an evolution of the earlier 722-1, with an increased frequency from 18,000 to 21,000 vibrations per hour, enhancing precision and performance.
While the majority of reference 6265 watches were produced in stainless steel, a smaller number were crafted in yellow gold, such as the present example, offering a more luxurious interpretation. These gold variants are further distinguished by the presence of the COSC designation on the dial.
Consigned by the family of the original owner, the present Rolex Daytona 6265 is preserved in highly attractive condition. Its black dial, with all lume plots intact, provides a striking contrast to the exceptionally well-preserved gold case and matching riveted bracelet. Retaining its original pushers and bezel, this fresh-to-the-market example represents a particularly desirable opportunity to acquire one of the most collectible chronographs ever produced.
