The present lot, no. 44484, was incorrectly recorded in the sales books as a quarter repeater; however, the Deutsches Uhrenmuseum Glashütte confirms through the firm’s workshop records that it is in fact a minute repeater.
The earliest recorded ladies’ repeating watch by A. Lange & Söhne dates to 1881 and featured a quarter repeater. Production of such pieces remained extremely limited between 1881 and 1908, reflecting modest demand, with only 41 quarter repeating and just eleven minute repeating ladies’ watches made, underscoring the rarity of the present example.
