Cartier established a premier mechanical watchmaking division that was in production during 1998-2008. The division was dedicated to recreate some of the brand's iconic models with high-grade movements. Cartier worked with brands like Piaget, Jager-LeCoultre, Girard-Perregaux, and put together a collection of pieces during the period. There are a few telltales of a CPCP Cartier watch. The quickest way to identify a CPCP timepiece was its dial — except for the Tank Cintrée, every model bore the ‘Cartier Paris’ inscription as a nod to its roots. The dials were also made from solid gold and frequently showcased a deeply hand-turned guilloché pattern, with Cartier’s distinctive ‘rosette’ positioned at the center beneath the hands.
The present example is a classic and rare Tank Louis dual time zone. The mechanical movement was derived from Piaget and features one of the more unusual layout. The crown has two positions, first to set local time and second to set the minutes. A timeless and truly classic piece.
