While originally conceived during the late 1960s and early 1970s – an era of bold experimentation at Cartier’s Bond Street workshops – this later iteration reflects the enduring appeal of Cartier’s classic creations, seamlessly blending heritage with contemporary elegance. Our research suggests that a very small number of specially made white gold Cartier London watches were produced in the early 1990s. These included Allongée, Asymmetric, Octagonal, and Cintrée models. It is believed that as few as three examples of each design may have been made, totalling perhaps just 12 white gold wristwatches in this series. The present watch may, in fact, be the same example offered in The Magical Art of Cartier auction held by Antiquorum in Geneva, November 1996.

Antiquorum Geneva, The Magical Art of Cartier, 19 November 1996. See lot 596 for another example of this model with matching dial configuration.
