Exhibiting a rectangular case with triple-stepped bands, the Patek Philippe 5101 not only pays homage to vintage rectangular wristwatches, but at the same time draws inspiration from the brand’s very own Art Deco designs.
In development for three years and finally released in 2003, the reference 5101 features an outstanding tourbillon escapement which could withstand powerful torques, as well as a 10 day power reserve supported by a double barrel design. Both barrels could be wounded simultaneously, furthermore incorporated with a slipping bridle system to prevent them from over-winding. Considered a contemporary classic, the reference 5101 is truly an unorthodox accomplishment.
