Although Patek Philippe’s Reference 5013 was produced over two decades, debuting in 1992 and continuing for 18 years until its discontinuation in 2011, it embodies the classic charm and iconic style of early 20th-century timepieces. Its tonneau-shaped case houses a grand complication movement that features a repeating function alongside a perpetual calendar and moon phase. The brand has a rich heritage of creating repeating perpetual calendar watches. The Reference 5013 was recognized as the brand's most complicated wristwatch until the Reference 5016 debuted in 1994.

This 5013 was a significant achievement, being the first wristwatch to integrate a self-winding movement with a minute repeater, retrograde date, and perpetual calendar. The date hand automatically adjusts to return to the first of the month after the 28th, 29th, 30th, or 31st, depending on the month and leap year. Initially, the watch was offered in yellow, pink, white gold, or platinum cases, but the option of a black dial was introduced in 2006. Despite its lengthy production span, it is believed that only 101 movements for the reference were produced, with 20 of those housed in pink gold including all dial variations. It is truly a rare opportunity to acquire this piece into any serious collection.
