In the entire history of watchmaking, it is no understatement to say that Abraham-Louis Breguet is one of the most important and influential figures. After founding his brand in 1775, he would go on to pioneer several technologies core to the industry even today, such as the tourbillon and the Breguet overcoil hairspring. In his lifetime, he would go on to create watches for many monarchs as well as the French Navy.

For all of Breguet’s life, his main focus was pocket watches. Indeed, wristwatches only entered prevalence after the Great War in the 20th century. The present reference 1800, produced in exceedingly limited quantities and housing a perpetual calendar, is very much a tribute to the man himself. Featuring all of the signature elements which Breguet is most known for, such as the engine turned dial and coin-edge case band, it does not get any more classic than this.
