In 1991, Vacheron Constantin introduced the thinnest minute repeating movements of its time, which was so impressive that it was named after the company's founding year: 1755.
The 1755 calibre was available in two versions: one being the minute repeating movement, like the current example, and the other combined with a perpetual calendar (Ref. 30020). Only a total of 200 pieces of this calibre were produced, primarily with a more traditional dial (Ref. 30010), while a limited series was made with a skeletonised dial (Ref. 30030) in either pink gold or platinum.
Despite the state of the art complications, there was no compromise on the design of the watch. The Manufacture has a long-standing reputation for its distinctive watch case designs, often reflecting nods to its archives in modern models. The 1940s and 50s were particularly notable for creative case design at Vacheron Constantin, and the elegant proportions and tear-drop lugs of the original reference 4261 were mirrored in the reference 30030. This watch beautifully blends this heritage with a modern yet timeless appeal, showcased through its intricately pierced and engraved movement.
