The Girard-Perregaux "Opera Two" is based on ‘"Opera One" but with an added perpetual calendar function with the other two highly coveted complications, minute repeater with carillon (Westminster Chime) and a tourbillon.
The present "Opera Two" in pink gold is produced in very limited quantities, with each timepiece meticulously handcrafted and decorated, requiring around 500 hours to complete. While most repeaters utilize two hammers on two gongs to indicate the time, the Westminster chime stands out by incorporating four gongs and hammers to replicate the sound of bells from London’s Houses of Parliament. The movement of the "Opera Two" is one of the few to feature a four-gong Westminster carillon, with each of the four hammers designated according to piano keys. When the minute repeater is activated, three of the four gongs can be seen striking through the open aperture on the left of the dial, producing the charming "Big Ben" melody.
Highly appealing aesthetically, the "Opera Two" is arguably the most desired wristwatch among the Girard-Perregaux’s creations.
