Only produced from 2001 to 2008, the Octa Chronographe is an eccentric model from F. P. Journe's catalogue. The dial features an asymmetric layout equipped with a flyback chronograph, as well as the Octa family’ signature off-center winding rotor. A lesser known fact about the Octa Chronographe is that production can be broken down into five distinct series, and also provides a glimpse into production numbers.
Each series designation is based off the calibre 1300. The first series featured straight Côtes de Genève and was only used in the very first batch of production. The present watch belongs to the second series, with circular Côtes de Genève but still using brass movement, and it is estimated that 125 pieces were made in this style. The third generation was made for the ruthenium series and thus features movement coated in ruthenium, and all subsequent series featured the updated pink gold calibre.
