Launched in 2023, the Urwerk UR-100V “Magic T”, is a masterclass in high-horology that serves as a versatile canvas for creators Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner. Extrapolated from a 17th century clock, this concept has been explored, transformed, and transmuted with extraordinary creativity across space, volume, and time. Martin Frei experimented with shapes and crafted the design, while Felix Baumgartner reinvented the URWERK wandering hours—a hands-free display where satellites move along a graduated arc. As each hour satellite completes its 60-minute cycle, the next satellite, representing the subsequent hour, immediately appears at the zero-minute position.

The UR-100V “Magic T” earns its nickname by celebrating titanium in its purest form. Through a refined shot-blasted finish the metal transcends its typically raw appearance, taking on a radiant glow that highlights its inherent beauty and character. This exterior is paired with a complex, multi-layered dial designed to enhance structure and legibility. Beyond its UFO-like silhouette, the timepiece is intrinsically-linked to the cosmos. Once a minute indicator completes its sweep, it slips into one of two lateral recesses within the satellite carrier, assuming a new role as an astronomical counter. Over the next 20minutes, it tracks the 555 kilometers travelled by the Earth through its rotation and the 35,740 kilometers it covers in its orbit around the Sun, offering a compelling reminder of our planet’s continuous journey through space.
