This refined execution incorporated two highly sophisticated mechanisms designed to enhance precision: a remontoir d’égalité, which delivers constant force to the escapement, and a seconde morte or dead beat seconds complication. Unlike a traditional mechanical seconds hand that advances in a smooth sweeping motion, the dead beat seconds hand moves in precise one-second increments, a technically demanding feat requiring the mechanism to repeatedly stop and release the seconds display while the movement continues running uninterrupted.
