Belonging to the second series, which scholarship now dictates were only produced for a small window of 2 years, its combination of the classical 36 mm case and the historic complication makes this a reference worthy of collecting by any connoisseur. Further encased in platinum, a significantly rarer version than its other counterparts, the reference 3940 is arguably the physical manifestation of the ideology which allowed Patek Philippe to come out of the quartz crisis as the undisputed leader in greater Swiss horology.
