A larger, more robust sibling to the original reference 96, it was the first serially produced piece from Patek Philippe to feature a two-part screw down case back with dust cover, which not only protected the movement from dust and humidity but also magnetism. Thanks to this innovative design, it gave the wearer an element of water resistance, a feature rarely seen on dress watches of this era. With extract confirming its manufacturing date of 1951, it is likely that this present example was one of the last batches of the reference ever made. A simple yet elegant design, the 565 has transcended trends and remains a relevant model within the zeitgeist of Patek Philippe.
