Under Jean-Jacques Cartier, the London boutique saw a period of complete creative freedom that gave birth to many iconic models such as the present lot. The present Cartier London Baignoire was a radical reinterpretation of Louis Cartier’s 1912 oval design that derived its inspiration from a bathtub. With the recent market upheaval for vintage Cartier, London Baignoire are highly sought after, and an example like this present lot in white gold is even more sought after as one can count with two, maybe even one hand on how many white gold London Baignoire has ever surfaced, especially in this condition.

Produced just 2 years before its merger with Cartier New York and Paris that ended an era of bold experimentation at Cartier’s Bond Street workshops. To further the importance of this rare piece, it comes with an original two-tone deployant buckle and with the extremely well preserved dial it stands as an extremely charming timepiece that any discerning Cartier collector will be lucky to have.
