To date, only approximately 170 Patek Philippe minute repeating chronograph pocket watches have been identified. They are considerably rarer than minute repeating split seconds chronograph pocket watches. At the time, only a small number of movement workshops were capable of meeting Patek Philippe’s exacting standards for complicated movements; the present watch, for example, is fitted with a movement supplied by Victorin Piguet.

Measuring 55 mm in diameter, the large hunting case is unusual for a Patek Philippe pocket watch fitted with a 19-ligne movement. It was most likely made to order in accordance with the original owner’s request.

Furthermore, the watch is accompanied by its original Patek Philippe wooden presentation box, which retains an original label bearing movement number 157'131 on its underside, as well as an original spare crystal.
