This watch combines the highest quality minute-repeating movement with a superbly decorated enamel case set with approximately 326 rose-cut diamonds. The gilt movement features an engraved balance bridge and a diamond endstone. It is also fitted with a helical balance spring, which expands and contracts evenly along its central axis, allowing the balance wheel to oscillate with greater concentricity and thereby improving precision.
The heavy case is finely engraved and decorated with turquoise champlevé enamel, a colour rarely encountered on watches of this type. The yellow gold dial is similarly finely engraved and adorned with matching turquoise champlevé enamel numerals. The inside of the case back and the cuvette are engraved with the casemaker’s initials “RB” for Richard Macaire Ball. The present watch is a very rare and fine example of a timepiece made to special order for the Indian market.
