Dial: silver engine-turned dial signed Cartier, the edge with barleycorn decoration, each hour section of lobed design, central stylised flower-form motif, black Arabic numerals, blued steel Breguet hands
Calibre: 10’’’ unsigned frosted gilded bar movement, lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance with timing and poising screws, Breguet hairspring

Platinum’s introduction into Cartier’s repertoire began modestly in the mid-19th century, with its use in small accessories such as shirt buttons and cufflinks. These early experiments reflected the limited availability and processing difficulties of the time. By the end of the 1800s, however, Wilhelm Carl Heraeus’s invention of a new melting process unlocked platinum’s potential, enabling it to become a cornerstone of Cartier’s designs.
