Edward Kohne was born in 1839 from a family of clockmakers. Influenced by his family and driven by his own passion, in 1859 he decided to move to Geneva, the heart of watchmaking. After two years of study, he joined Patek Philippe in 1861. Starting from the bottom and became a shareholder of the firm after fifteen years. However, Kohne had always dreamed of establishing his own brand. In 1891 he left Patek Philippe and began his business by purchasing the renowned Danish watchmaking brand H. R. Ekegren.
