Introduced in late 2017, the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 "Homage to Walter Lange" was released in four precious-metal versions to honor Walter Lange, the visionary responsible for reviving the manufacture after its post-war absence. Launched following his passing in January 2017, the watch celebrates his life's achievements and lasting influence on both A. Lange & Söhne and the world of watchmaking.

At the heart of this remarkable timepiece is an unusual deadbeat seconds mechanism featuring an independently stoppable central seconds hand in addition to a traditional small seconds display. Controlled by the pusher at 2 o'clock, the central deadbeat seconds hand can be started, stopped, and synchronized with the subsidiary seconds hand.

The watch is filled with subtle tributes to Walter Lange. Its 40.5 mm white gold case houses the mechanical Calibre L1924, a direct reference to the year of his birth, 1924. Similarly, the reference number incorporates his birthday, with the digits “297” commemorating 29 July. The edition was limited to 145 pieces, representing the 145 years that elapsed between the founding of the original manufacture in 1845 and its rebirth in 1990.
