Danish furniture designer Frits Henningsen was celebrated for his exceptional craftsmanship and innovative approach to form, qualities fully embodied in the present wingback chair. A rare and important example of his work, the chair also reflects the most desirable attributes of 1930s Scandinavian production. Its high back, integrated wings, and gently curved, ergonomic silhouette provide both comfort and a sense of privacy. Drawing on generations of cabinetmaking tradition within his family, Henningsen employed high‑quality materials and traditional fabrication techniques to create a chair of remarkable durability. The sweeping lines, combined with the historic wingback typology, result in a design that is both visually distinctive and elegantly restrained. Likely one of only fifty or so examples produced, the present chair retains its original leather and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a benchmark of Danish design.
