Sandawana Mine, located in Zimbabwe's Mberengwa District, is among the world's most celebrated emerald sources. Discovered in 1956, it gained renown for producing emeralds of exceptional vivid green colour and remarkable saturation, often in relatively small sizes. Prized for their rich chromium-induced hue, Sandawana emeralds remain highly sought after by collectors. While the mine is no longer a significant producer, fine examples are now encountered only rarely on the market, their scarcity enhancing both their desirability and prestige.
