In December 2020, Sotheby's introduced the Captivated by Color Collection to a worldwide audience. Among the twenty-one jewels offered in that season's Magnificent Jewels auction were extremely rare orange and red diamonds, Kashmir and padparadscha sapphires, technicolor opals, and a no-oil emerald. Captivated by Color returned in 2022 with two exceptional alexandrites that established a new benchmark for Brazilian-mined examples. As done with so many of her specimen-quality stones, the consignor entrusted Oscar Heyman & Brothers to devise mountings, forming what is possibly the most extensive and important collection of "OHB" in existence.

The jewels from Captivated by Color across our June 2026 auctions High and Fine Jewelry (lots 35-37 and 219-221) further reveal one woman's passion for the extraordinary colors and optical properties found in the world of gemstones. An accomplished businesswoman, she approaches collecting as a serious discipline, absorbing information from a variety of sources and applying it to her collaborations with jewelers, often creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Through prescient connoisseurship, she has pursued certain categories well in advance of market surges, notably Paraíba tourmalines and stones sourced from Africa.

Sotheby's is honored, once again, to present jewels and gemstones from this remarkable collection.
