Claude-Louis Burgat, woodmaker, received master in 1744.
The CLBG stamp, traditionally attributed to Clément Bergez, now appears to be associated with the woodmaker Claude-Louis Burgat. Indeed, the sale by Christie's on 11 June 1998 (lot 48), of a pair of armchairs, one bearing the CLBG stamp and the other BURGATT, suggests that the master craftsman used both marks interchangeably.
