Lot Details

Description

 Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1976

Talence (Pessac-Léognan), Grand Cru Classé

u. 1bn, bin-soiled and wine-stained label, scuffed, oxidized, and corroded capsule, signs of seepage

In 2020, an amazing colour deposit in the bottle still left tremendous colour in the glass, with a wonderfully Havana cigars nose - signature stuff. So intensely perfumed you inhale it. On the palate, rich, totally integrated, liquorice and freshness, a miraculous expression of 1976 and how they managed the heat. This has dimension and all the mineral elements of La Mission, plus concentration. A candidate for best 1976. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

3 mags (cn)

Provenance: Zachys Christie's, March 22, 1997, Lot 307, Magnificent Wine from the Collection of Tawfiq N. Khoury
