Description
Château Haut Brion 1964
Pessac-Léognan (Graves), 1er Cru Classé
u. 4.5cm, heavily bin-soiled, wine-stained, nicked, and partially torn label, scuffed, nicked, oxidized, and corroded capsule, signs of seepage
Harvested before the rain - timing was all in this vintage. At 50 years old, there is a bouquet of its time that I can describe as 'damp cellars', bringing back a hoard of memories. The taste is all blackcurrant and richly redolent of mince pies, those dried fruit concoctions that the British eat at Christmas, spicy and rich. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
