Description

Château Cheval Blanc 1988

St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A)

u. 2bn, bin-soiled and slightly damp-stained labels

Cabernet Franc 49%, Merlot 47%, Cabernet Sauvignon 4%. 38 hl/hectare made. Vintage took place from 1-10 October. This was the first year the second wine, Petit Cheval, was made. In 2025, a beautiful, spicy nose, drawing one in immediately. Then chocolate and leather saddle notes, so very CB. This has beautiful structure and richness, utterly satisfying in every way. And at only 12.5% alcohol! Brilliant winemaking and comprehension of the vintage have combined to make a wonderful wine. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
