Description
Dom Pérignon, P2 2002
Level above foil
In 2019, the nose resembles an incredible Grand Cru white Burgundy, a sign of those stunning Chardonnays. Umami, toasty and white truffley. On the palate, there is real texture, roundness and toastiness, together with exuberance and the welcoming warmth of the vintage. Gradually, it becomes nuttier as you leave it in the glass (always a challenge). On the finish, there is a ravishing touch of salt and butterscotch, ultimate sapidity. In 2020, on a significant birthday, an enticing nose of brioche, white flowers and a touch of marzipan. Real, profound depth on the palate and absolute class in the glass. A glorious flavour of toast and lemons, mouth-filling with its intensity and reluctance to leave you - which suits me. Then comes a lovely saline finish. Total harmony and at a gorgeous stage of its life, combining freshness with adult maturity - in other words, very suitable for birthdays!
