Description

Very Old Fitzgerald 8 Year Old 86 Proof 1962

Distilled in 1962, bottled in 1970 at Stitzel-Weller Distillery, missing tax strip, gold foil around neck slightly tarnished, front label stained and soiled, back label soiled and peeling, German import label to rear of bottle by Hellmut Baumann & Co. GMBH

Old Fitzgerald was the flagship brand of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, led by Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle. The whiskey came in a variety of ages. While under his management, 'Pappy' Van Winkle refused to bottle Old Fitzgerald at anything less than the domestic requirement of 100 Proof, set out by the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897. The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 made it illegal to label any spirit bonded if it was aged past 8 Years. This was changed in 1958.

1 bottle 70cl (no original packaging)
